What if you need to be on the web but can't afford a multi-page website? What if you really don't need all that information? If your business is well understood by your prospective customers, and all you need is to make sure they can find you on the web and provide enough information for them to contact you, a single-page website could be right for you. Think of it as a really great magazine ad, or phone directory ad, with more space and design choices ... and that can reach millions of internet users ... for much less than running an ad in a local newspaper.

How it works
I produce custom websites for small businesses, tailored to your needs and preferences. I don't have a set of standard layouts that you are limited to. Your site will be unique.
- You fill out the Website Planning Workbook that I provide. This asks questions about your business, what you want to accomplish with your website, your preferences for colors/design/appearance, and what materials you have that can be re-used on the site.
- We talk on the phone to review your workbook make sure we have a common understanding of goals and objectives.
- I'll produce some mockups ("Alphas") of your site showing a few alternative approaches; we'll agree on one, or define a different look. Up to this point, you have not paid me any money. If you decide to proceed, you pay 1/3 of my total fee. If you want to reserve your site name and hosting space now, you pay that directly to the hosting company (about $130 for one year). I will walk you through the site name and hosting registration process. If you decide not to proceed at this point, you owe me nothing.
- You provide the basic content for each page. I will edit your input as needed, request more or different information from you, and make other suggestions.
- I will compile the materials and format them for the web, creating a "Beta" site. We will review the Beta and define changes to be made to the content and web design. After we have agreed on the changes to be made, you pay the 2nd 1/3 of my fee. Also at this time, you must purchase the site name/hosting package as described above.
- I will make the changes we defined and produce a "Final Draft" version of your site and load it onto your site. It will not be "live" (viewable to the general public, unless they are told exactly where we put the draft). We will review the Final Draft together and define final changes to be made. I will make the changes and update the draft site for your final signoff. If necessary, we will go through 2-3 iterations of this process to make sure the site is just as you want it.
- When we agree that the content and design is ready to go live, I will:
- Load the final content to the web where the whole world can view it.
- Submit your site to the major search engines (e.g. Google).
- Set up email acounts, up to two, for you. Such as info@yoursite.com or you@yoursite.com. These can be forwarded to one of your existing email accounts, accessed directly as webmail, or accessed with an email program such as Outlook. I will provide instructions for accessing the accounts via webmail or Outlook.
- Walk through the web pages with you for one final review. After the review, you pay the final 1/3 of my fee.
Your responsibilities:
- Fill out the Web Site Planning Workbook, which I will provide to you in MS Word format.
- Provide the rough content for each page of your site. I will edit at no charge.
- Provide graphics, pictures, or other non-text content you want included. I will process the files for size, resolution, and other clean-up at no charge.
- Decide on what email accounts you want and how you will handle them (forwarded to other accounts, webmail, or Outlook).
- Respond to reviews (Alpha, Beta, and final drafts) promptly (within 48 hours). The target dates for these reviews will be agreed to in advance.
- Pay for the site name registration and hosting package (about $130 or $70/year depending on your site, included in the prices above). It is recommended that you pay this via credit card for immediate registration.
